Sarah Mootz Takes The World by Storm
From making people cry to tapping their foot
Sarah Mootz embodies who she is through an electrifyingly pop sound combined with notes of Stevie Nicks, Clairo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Residing in the college town of Athens, Georgia, Sarah Mootz has been chasing the dream since she was sixteen. Mootz has been through a wild ride of experiences in her career. Now twenty-five, she is ready to take the world by storm through her unparalleled stargazing vocals.
With enriching lyrics that allow for one’s ears to come alive through her emotions, Mootz clarifies that “at some point [she] wanted to stop making people cry” and instead “tap their foot” at her show. By perfecting the art of writing sad songs, this has enabled Sarah to be vulnerable with her sound and venture out beyond her horizons. This past Valentine’s Day, Mootz released a rich soliloquy of a song: Say You Love Me. A willfully soothing reminder that conveys the message to love oneself. Lines such as “this is a message for myself to me” and “say you love me like you used to” help signify the essence of loving yourself.
In a fashionably peculiar way, her music is themed to be considered as “90’s grunge mixed with fun 70’s retro.” I’m not entirely sure what that means but I can assure you that it is working beautifully. Sarah demonstrates her versatility through the song such as The Dog. This tune was inspired by the idea that there weren’t enough fun breakup songs that mention missing the ex’s parents and their dog. Within four hours of production, this bedroom pop song came to life.
A punk yet opulent sound
Music is alive and well in Athens, Georgia with artists such as Sarah Mootz and the indie band Well Kept at the forefront. This past November, Mootz killed it at the historical 40 Watt Club in Athens. Sarah claims that performing at this venue was a pivotal point in her career since incredible talents such as Kurt Cobain and REM have played there.
For 2022, Sarah Mootz has been manifesting herself to be on tour, releasing more music and growing her fanbase. Reminiscent of a young Alanis Morissette, Mootz will continue to curate music that encapsulates her punk yet opulent sound.
In Downtown Athens, there is a designated stretch of concrete instilled with plaques shaped as guitar picks called the as the “Music Walk of Fame.” I don’t doubt for a second that there will be one with Sarah’s name on it someday day.
