How to befriend the band, NONEWFRIENDS.

A collective of five best friends passionate about making music in a way described as “controlled chaos”. If this is chaos I can only image what the opposite would be. This group of Syracuse college students has the potential to break barriers with their infusion of R&B, jazz, and funk.
Lead singer, Elizabeth “Liz” Stuart, showcases the versatility of her voice throughout each song. The combination of Stuarts’ soulfully soothing vocals with the fluidity of the instruments aligning her allows for a lethal duo. My favorite song of NONEWFRIENDS is their first single, Already Gone.
I first heard this song on my Spotify discover weekly playlist a year ago and have not stopped playing it since. Written by band member Peter Groppe, Already Gone is an anthem for moving on to better things in life along with forgetting memories and past relationships. Jackson Siporin helps guide the track with his stellar saxophone playing throughout the course of the song.
In the past couple of years the band has released four singles: Already Gone, The Hook, Closer, and Personal. From filming music videos in and out of their apartment, their work has been curated through a mix unique of DIY approaches and it is working significantly. Most recently in their music video for Personal, the band is seen taking on the streets and subways of New York having the time of their lives.
You can find the band NONEWFRIENDS actively unveiling their talents on Instagram live as well as secretly performing snippets of their unreleased songs. Though their name may sound intimidating at first, I hope that I have convinced you to listen to give them a listen and befriend them on Instagram with a follow because they’re pretty rad and so is their music.
